UPDATE 7/2012 – new information reveals He may have spoke Greek. In my zeal and ignorance, I may have been wrong. But the question remains, what of the alef and tav?
I know Jesus.
I love Jesus.
I believe in Jesus.
But we need to stop misquoting HIM. He never said he was the Alpha & Omega. Although I wasn’t there when he spoke it, but He is in me and history with research support this truth: JESUS NEVER SPOKE GREEK ON THIS EARTH. When Jesus was manifested in the flesh, He spoke only Hebrew & Aramaic. It is reported that he said I am the Alef & the Tav. Why is this significant?
Because this is the key to understanding Jesus is/was/will be the Messiah, according to the Hebrew Bible. In Genesis in the Torah, there are the first & last of the Hebrew characters everytime G-d Was mentioned. Jesus was alluding to this untranslated word, that it was He, that existed during creation. Remember that nothing was made in this universe, that was not made through him. JOHN 1:1-3
Its not just that He is the first and last, and I don’t think He intended to mean He is the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, but that this is the bridge between Judaism & early Christianity. He is the One the Israelite Prophets spoke of. And now, in Christ there is neither Greek nor Jew. Male nor Female. But He is a God of EVERY NATION and TONGUE on this earth. He created and made them. All Souls are His, Isaiah 57:16. And His House will be a House of all Nations, so salvation is not of the Jews only. Praise the Lord for this mercy!!
